Welcome to the Big E Project website. The Big E was a project funded by the North West Development Agency and delivered by Ufi North West to increase demand for Skills for Life and engage learners. It sought to do this by identifying models of engaging people in skills for life and e learning and then disseminating best practice across the North West. The Big E reached its objectives in December 2004 and celebrated its achievements at an event in Wigan on February 8, 2005.
Although the project has now ended, our aim is that this website will still be the main source of information and advice on all aspects of engaging learners in skills for life. We will continue to extend and update the website on a regular basis so that you can be confident of finding best practice on widening participation in the North West and nationally. This site is a resource for all learndirect and UK online learning centres, voluntary organisations and employers working in partnership with Ufi North West, and for anyone else who is interested in engaging learners from disadvantaged communities in skills for life and e learning.
